Kind Strangers Collective
Call for Submissions: 10-Minute Scenes

​

Kind Strangers Collective is a New York City–based theatre collective grounded in the spirit of play and the intimacy of bold storytelling. We exist to prioritize unheard artists and forge opportunities to collaborate, perform together, and share the work that excites us most.

 

We are calling on our vibrant New York community of writers, directors, actors, and artists to submit scenes for consideration for our next production, which will feature scenes from works-in-progress by both new and established playwrights, to be performed in Spring 2025.

What We’re Looking For: Theatrical Scenes!

• Length: Approximately 10 minutes

• Content: Scenes that are, or will be, part of a larger project

• Purpose: We’re interested in work that’s in the experimental phase—something you’re still developing, want to test with a live audience, and/or that has been sitting on the shelf but warrants new life. This is a chance to play and gain fresh insights and real-time feedback from fellow artists and audience members.

 

**Similar to our inaugural production, EXHUMED, we will ultimately make scene selections that fit a theme. The evening will be thoughtfully curated around this shared theme, with each scene chosen not only for its individual strength but also for how it complements the other pieces and contributes to the narrative arc of the night. Casting and direction will be determined in collaboration with the playwrights upon selection.

Please send a brief synopsis of your larger project along with a PDF of your 10-minute scene to kindstrangerscollective@gmail.com.

 

Submissions are due by Monday, Feb. 17, at 11 pm ET.
